My Journey to the Arc of Attrition 50k

As I creep swiftly towards another significant birthday, I've decided to shake things up and take on some challenges outside of my comfort zone. Enter The Arc of Attrition by UTMB 50k. To some, this might seem like a walk in the park, but for me, the unknown terrain, daunting hills, and strict 7-hour cut off time make it an exciting yet intimidating challenge. 

Entering a race like the Arc of Attrition 50k by UTMB is more than just about proving physical capability; it's a test of endurance, determination, and courage. With that looming 7-hour cut off, the pressure is on not just to finish, but to do so within the allotted time frame. It's daunting, it's exciting, and it's about to become my reality. Yikes!

I've always been one to push boundaries and explore the limits of human capability, but even just a year ago, this race would've seemed out of reach. But hey, you only live once, right? So why not give it a shot? 

So now I'm gearing up for the challenge ahead. January may seem far off, but in the grand scheme of things, it's just around the corner, and I've got a lot of work to do. My first step is to assess the areas that need improvement and focus: strength training, core stability, mobility, ankle strength, nutrition, and overcoming my fear of downhill running. It's going to be a journey, but I'm here for it! 

But before I fully immerse myself in Arc of Attrition preparation, I've set some intermediate milestones. The Bristol Half Marathon yesterday marked the beginning of this journey, providing a benchmark for my current fitness levels and a taste of what's to come. And if that wasn't enough, my husband and I are gearing up for Endure24, a ridiculously 24-hour race ­– I genuinely can’t wait for this one!
